I woke this morning to a very pleasant surprise. Bear with me, this will ramble a little. About 10 years ago I became obsessed with this funny, crass, and heartfelt web series. It introduced me to so much new music. I donated to their fund to make another season and even started becoming internet friends with the creator. Then he died.
I remember being on my phone and seeing a post about an activist’s death on a gay news site. Then I clocked the photo. “Holy…That’s Matt.” I knew he’d finished filming season three and had really gotten into hiking. He died of heat stroke in Australia. It was heart breaking.
Especially because I knew he’d been working so hard on this thing he loved. This popped up this morning: www.thewrap.com/bloomers-sea… I only saw it because I’d never unfollowed the FB page. It’s lovely that it’s out there, and I’m so grateful that Evan Monheit and Fernanda Espindola never gave up on it.
Anyway, hello again, my old hyper-fixation. It’s so nice to see you, and Matt, one more time.
